Episode 4: Empowering the Next Generation: Intesa Sanpaolo's Youth-centric projects and their role in sustainable development.
In a world where
poverty and inequality continue to plague societies, the importance of
sustainable development cannot be overstated. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable
Development lays out a bold vision for the future.
One of the most
significant principles of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is the
elimination of severe poverty for all people around the world. It also seeks to
safeguard the most vulnerable members of society, expand their access to
essential services, and assist those who have been impacted by extreme weather
events caused by climate change as well as other forms of economic, social, and
environmental devastation. Understanding and meeting the expectations and
demands of the social fabric, as well as providing instruments to responsibly
manage the numerous issues that the social environment imposes, such as
poverty, is central to Intesa Sanpaolo's commitment to the growth of the
country.
Imagine you are a small business owner in the hospitality industry, struggling to keep up with rising energy costs and the global economic downturn. You're feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure of how to keep your business afloat. But then, you hear about Intesa Sanpaolo's Crescibusiness initiative and feel a glimmer of hope. Measures are available through Intesa Sanpaolo's Crescibusiness initiative to help small businesses with cash flow and digitalization and sustainability investments. Using the initiatives of the new €5 billion national Crescibusiness plan, the bank is helping small and micro businesses in the service, tourist, and hospitality sectors in the Milan, Monza, and Brianza areas. The program is designed to aid small business owners in the hospitality industry who have been hit hard by rising energy and raw material costs as well as the global economic downturn by encouraging them to invest at this difficult time. This is a means of ensuring financial security and economic sustainability.
The Intesa
Sanpaolo Foundation for Charity has donated approximately €11 million to local
collaborative planning processes for coordinated actions to meet the needs of
vulnerable individuals, which have been established in partnership with the
Community Foundations. With a focus on families with young children and those
who aren't currently receiving assistance from local authorities, this effort
aims to counteract the widespread poverty that has resulted from the economic
downturn. In 2022, Intesa had €18 million to donate to non-profits fighting the
health, economic, and social crises that had worsened preexisting conditions
including fragility and inequality. With
immediate effect, €300,000 was distributed from the Intesa Sanpaolo Charitable
Fund to maintain funding for programs that aid children with cancer and the
medical professionals who treat them. Funding projects by non-profit organizations
that aim to address the health, economic, and social challenges afflicting
Italy, the Intesa Sanpaolo Foundation for Charitable, Social, and Cultural
Initiatives also gives resources to help those in need. By aiding in the fight
against issues connected to fragile and unequal situations, the Intesa Sanpaolo
Charitable Fund is making a significant contribution to the realization of
social objectives.
The bank's efforts to expand youth access to education and improve their chances of finding gainful employment have breathed new life into numerous youth-centric projects. It helps schools by encouraging students to take part in activities that improve the environment, the economy, and their relationships with others. With an eye toward the difficulties of sustainability, Intesa Sanpaolo is organizing several projects to educate young people on the significance of acquiring the knowledge and behaviors needed to make informed financial decisions. Such initiatives are a pathway to financial independence and sustainable development which is the main agenda in the SGDs.
